CAMERON CLARK

Executive Director

Cameron is the founder and Executive Director of Developing, Organizing Visions for Everyone (D.O.V.E), a non-profit to assist formerly incarcerated individuals to successfully reenter society by providing appropriate case management and support services.


Born and raised in Compton, CA, Cameron is one of four boys. At an early age he joined a gang and ultimately changed the course of his life. At 15 years old he was given a 16 year to life sentence as a result of gang violence. During his sentence at CA State Prison, Cameron was able to take advantage of the rehabilitative opportunities and classes where he received a business completion and was a part of an innovative group of 50 former lifers to become Drug and Alcohol Counselors credentialed by California Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselors (CAADAC).

    While still incarcerated he became a mentor and counseled other inmates about gang addiction and drugs. After serving nineteen years in prison, he was released and participated in CA Gov. Jerry Brown's realignment Initiative that reallocated funding to Community Based Organizations for treatments, job training, and housing opportunities.He later became a Resident Services Manager for Community Housing Partnership and while there fought for the Banned the Box proposition which removed the "Are you Convicted?" question on work applications. Presently, he is a Program Manager at East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation ensuring that economically low-income residents retain their housing. 


    Cameron always says you are a solution to a problem that exists in the world and strongly committed to giving back to a community that he once took from. He has received numerous accolades and certificates since his release.


    He currently lives in the Bay Area and enjoys spending as much time with his sons.

CARRIE GOODSPEED

Program Director

Carrie Goodspeed is an Oakland native and has lived and worked in most Bay Area counties. She has worked in many capacities as a service provider and homeless advocate, working with the marginalized population impacted by systems. Carrie has a passion for working in the community, bridging gaps and removing barriers for those experiencing disparities.


She understands the many layers of trauma and how it relates to human services, mental/behavioral health, substance use and incarceration. She recognizes that each circumstance may look different for individuals returning to stability 

and believes that individualized assessment to treatment is necessary to address and meet the unique needs of individuals.


She brings an organic and holistic approach to treatment and recognizes there are various types of treatments that can achieve results and positive outcomes. D.O.V.E is making strides to address and meet the needs of the community. Community building is essential to people-building.

    To create stability, we have to do so as a community where we are supporting one another to thrive and grow. This promotes sustainable living and enriches the lives of all who contribute and live in the community. Her goal is to provide these crucial aspects as a D.O.V.E staff member and is excited to build the programs to address these needs. Carrie enjoys having down time to take her family and 4 dogs on trips.

JONATHAN NEWSOME

Consultant

Jonathan Newsom is an experienced Executive Director and consultant specializing in non-profit organizations, community development, affordable housing and fund development strategies. He has over 25 years experience working for and with community-based non-profit corporations. 


Jonathan was born and raised in Oakland, California and the oldest of six children. He attended California State University East Bay Hayward (1974–78) majoring in journalism and completed the UCLA Urban Studies Community Scholars Program in 1992-93.


In 1992 to 1993 he served as Program Coordinator for the Mayor Tom Bradley successful Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program implemented by the City of Los Angeles.

    From 1993 to 1995 he served as President of Drew Economic Development Corporation and oversaw the affordable housing program and various community development services.


    From 1998 to 2006 he served as Vice-President of Program Operations for Long Beach Community Action Partnership. He supervised the establishment of a charter school program, computer training program, academic tutoring services and case management services.


    From August 2009 to June 2011 he served as Principal for Legacy Charter High School, a small innovative charter school located in South Los Angeles. After helping to establish the school he decided to return to consulting specializing in non-profit organizations.


    Starting in 2006 to 2015 he worked for Ontrack Program Resource and provided consulting services to a number of non-profit organizations. He worked as a consultant, specializing in services to non-profit organizations in the areas of strategic planning, fund development, grant writing and program development. 


    From July 2011 to October 2017 he served as Executive Director of Long Beach Affordable Housing Coalition (LBAHC), which provides over 21 properties and over 480 units of affordable housing in Los Angeles County. He had previously served on the LBAHC Board of Directors since 2002.


    He has been married for 44 years and has 2 adult children and 1 grandchild.

RODNEY CLARK

Service Connector

Rodney is originally from Compton, CA and was not an active gang member but was affiliated with gangs through his older brothers. Rodney is the youngest of the four brothers and has seen the generational trauma and pain inflicted on his family. Rodney has lived in Southern California for most of his life and raised his sons in Riverside, California.



Rodney has personal experiences with homelessness and the disparities unhoused individuals face on a daily basis. Rodney became incarcerated while homeless and through his brother’s advocacy, was released from prison and relocated to the Bay Area. Rodney has a background in driving and training Commercial A licensed trucks nationwide. He has a desire to contribute to the community by assisting others gain skills and training to enhance their opportunities in their career path.

    Rodney came to D.O.V.E to share his life experiences and support individuals in need of help and resources.. He is excited to be at D.O.V.E and sees the organization as a tool for change in the community. He understands the need for second and third chances for individuals seeking stability and growth, Rodney enjoys spending time with his kids, fishing and watching movies.
